Did you know that Charles Schulz, the creator of the famous comic strip Peanuts – featuring the world’s most famous beagle, Snoopy – called Santa Rosa home? For over 30 years he lived and worked right here in Santa Rosa. Having lived in Santa Rosa a few years now myself, it’s easy to understand why the cartoonist settled here. Plus it’s just fun to run into Snoopy and the Peanuts gang around town as I do errands!

Just an hour north of San Francisco, Santa Rosa is a charming city of approximately 180,000 residents, tucked in the heart of Sonoma County. Its central location offers easy access to world-class wineries, towering redwoods, and the dramatic Northern California coastline – all with the bonus of a mild, year-round climate. The best part? Charles M. Schulz Museum

A visit to Santa Rosa wouldn’t be complete without exploring the museum dedicated to the creator of Snoopy and the beloved Peanuts gang. The Charles M. Schulz Museum offers an engaging look at Schulz’s life, artistic legacy, and the enduring impact of his work.

The museum experience goes beyond the artwork itself. Guests can step inside a replica of Schulz’s studio, discover how cartooning evolved as an art form, enjoy screenings of Peanuts animated specials and documentaries, and even try creating their own cartoons in the hands-on Education Room. Snoopy’s Home Ice

After you’ve seen everything in the museum, walk across the street to Snoopy’s Home Ice. Known also as the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, Snoopy’s Home Ice is a throw-back to another era; a charming alpine-style ice arena offering public skating, hockey, figure skating lessons, a skating school, and skating parties. Watch the skaters glide by while you enjoy a snack at the Warm Puppy Café, because happiness is a warm puppy.
